A bit closer to home than Croatia this time, but lizards was found in Caerphilly County Borough, South Wales.



My first reaction was P. sicula, but let me know what you think.

Hi Matt,

Nice pic. I was in Caerphilly last week looking at Marsh Fratillaries.  Didn`t see any Podarcis though!  Interesting find.  I asked one of my European friends his opinion on your lizard;

It actually looks like a P. pityusensis. But not the ssp suggested. More like P. p. pityusensis.  Headshape seems to be similar.

Hard to tell, because (as you already know.) many of the Lacertids look kind of the same.. You know.. "green lizard".

So none the wiser really!
